Arodes

Arodes.  The village of Arodes lies about 23 kms northeast of the town of Paphos, at an altitude of 590m above sea level.  Arodes is composed of two smaller settlements; Pano Arodes and Kato Arodes. 

The village of Pano Arodes dates from the Mycean era and is steeped in history. It is situated in the north-western tip of the island of Cyprus, on the edge of the Akamas nature reserve, on the Laona plateau approx. 600m above the sea. This little village is well known for its wonderful breezes that keep you cool on hot summer nights. It’s sister village, Kato Arodes, was largely abandoned after 1974, but is now slowly beginning to be inhabited again.  The impressive Avakas Gorge is accessed from outside the village.
