Giolou

Giolou.  Giolou is a village in the Paphos located 20 km North of Paphos town and 15 km South of Polis Chrysochous. There are various stories as to how it got its name, with the prevailing one being that it comes from the Greek god of the wind Aeolos.

Giolou is in the category of wine villages and in addition to its wine producing grape varieties, wheat, pulses and vegetables are also grown along the valley as well as fruit trees such us apples, olives and carobs. An old traditional flour mill still functions in the village serving almost all the surrounding villages of the Paphos district.  The village has kept its charming Cypriot character and is both quaint and picturesque.
